Where It All Began

cove-perch started in a small coastal kitchen in 2018, born from a simple observation: many people wanted to cook better meals at home but felt overwhelmed by the prospect. What began as informal gatherings among friends evolved into structured workshops, then a full service culinary education business.

Our founder spent over fifteen years working in professional kitchens before recognising that the real satisfaction came from teaching others. Watching someone's face light up when their first homemade bread emerges from the oven, or when a sauce comes together perfectly — these moments drive everything we do.

Today, we work with individuals, families, and businesses across the United Kingdom. Our approach remains unchanged: respect for ingredients, patience in teaching, and joy in the process.

What Guides Us

The principles behind every class, consultation, and recipe we create

Quality Over Quantity

We source ingredients carefully and teach techniques properly. Rushing benefits no one. Each session focuses on depth rather than breadth, ensuring you leave with skills you'll actually use.

Accessible Excellence

Professional techniques shouldn't require professional equipment. We show you how to achieve restaurant-quality results with standard home kitchen tools. Great cooking is about knowledge, not gadgets.

Sustainable Practice

Seasonal cooking, minimal waste, and respect for producers form the backbone of our teaching. Understanding where food comes from makes us better cooks and more thoughtful consumers.

Continuous Learning

We remain students ourselves, constantly exploring new cuisines and refining our craft. This curiosity keeps our offerings fresh and our teaching current with evolving food cultures.

Our Approach to Teaching

We've found that culinary confidence grows through understanding, not memorisation. Rather than simply demonstrating recipes, we explain the reasoning behind each step. When you understand why onions caramelise or how gluten develops, you gain the ability to adapt and improvise.

Sessions progress at your pace. Some clients arrive with years of experience seeking specific refinements. Others are beginning from scratch and need foundational guidance. Both are equally welcome, and both leave with tangible progress.

After each session, you receive detailed notes covering everything discussed. These serve as references when you're cooking independently, ensuring nothing gets forgotten between visits.
